Real Madrid demonstrated the current difference between them and Barcelona as they humilated Barca at Bernabeo in a game which could easily have ended in tennis scores. Barcelona barely had a chance until the last 10 minutes where they finally mustered a brief excuse for an attack, which resulted in their only goal. From the start of the game it was clear that Real Madrid was the only team willing or able to perform in this classic derby, in which honour was the only factor. It was clear that Madrid wanted to celebrate their newly won championship in front of their home audience, whereas Barca just wanted it to be over. Raul opened the show after 14. minutes as he beautifully placed the ball by the post from outside the field. 7 minutes later Robben scored a rare goal with his head as he was uncovered when entering the box on a free kick and easily scored on a header. After halftime substitute Higuain made it 3-0 before Nistelrooy made it 4-0 on penalty on his first touch of his comeback game. Only when Barcelona was faced with loosing by historic numbers, they finally woke up and Messi set up Henri on a deep pass, which Henry calmly shot passed Casillas for the final 4-1 score.
