Once again, we will witness the world’s
best passing team try to break down stubborn opposition and it might take a while for Spain to achieve the breakthrough. After all, you can’t fault a Paraguay team that have only conceded one goal in the entire tournament, although their opposition has been questionable.
Slovakia, Italy, New Zealand and Japan
have all shown themselves to be modest teams and Gerardo Martino’s team will have to play a blinder for 120 minutes to stop David Villa & Co from getting their noses in front. Naturally, there’s
always the chance that they will score on the counter-attack or from a set piece but a failure to find the net in their last two matches suggests otherwise.
Therefore, it should be a victory for
the Spanish who won’t stop working away until they are safely into the semi-finals against Germany or Argentina. It’s been an almighty adventure for La Furia Roja and one which is set to continue into the final week.
PREDICTION: SPAIN TO WIN 1-0 (6.0

Power Rating
Squad (3/5)
This is a remarkably well-balanced squad who have proved they can punch above their weight. Much will depend on confidence within the camp.
Squad (4.5/5)
A wonderfully balanced team, perhaps lacking something in the full-back positions but otherwise as good as any in South Africa.
Coach (3/5)
He rarely makes headlines but Martino has proved to be one of the most effective managers Paraguay have had in years.
Coach (4/5)
There was some doubt that Del Bosque could recapture the magic he wove at Real Madrid. Ten straight victories gave you the answer.
Attack (3.5/5)
At their best, Paraguay have a very dangerous array of midfielders and forwards.
Attack (5/5)
There is probably no better attack in world football than Torres and Villa supported by Iniesta, Xavi, Fabregas and Xabi Alonso.
Defence (2.5/5)
Were Chilavert at his peak, then Paraguay would go into the tournament with a bit more confidence but the back four did the job in qualification.
Defence (4/5)
It is not as feted as the forwards – defences never are - but not to concede a home goal in qualification is an awesome achievement.
