Forget Brazil, Spain, Argentina or Italy. It’s Uruguay who have kept the most clean sheets in the World Cup to date, with La Celeste shutting out France, South Africa and Mexico to finish top of Group A. While they were only defensive against the French, Diego Lugano and Diego Godin are making sure that goalkeeper Fernando Muslera has little do in between the sticks.
There’s a growing confidence about this Uruguayan side, who were the last team to qualify for the finals. It’s clearly helped by the fact they have the excellent Diego Forlan in the side, who operates well as a link-up player and is also a dangerous striker. With Luis Suarez also looking sharp after a successful season with Ajax, it’s easy to see Oscar Tabarez’s team recording victory.
After all, the South Koreans shipped six goals against Argentina and Nigeria and were lucky to reach the last sixteen in the end. It’s easy to see their World Cup journey coming to an end.
