Ajax - NEC Nijmegen

Can Ajax restore their attacking rhythm at the Johan Cruijff ArenA on 10 October 2026 as they host NEC Nijmegen for matchday 8 of the Eredivisie? Ajax enter the contest with a balanced expected XI featuring Marc-Andre ter Stegen in goal and a creative midfield anchored by Julian Brandt and Davy Klaassen, though they must navigate the absence of Kasper Dolberg and Aaron Bouwman. The hosts have shown significant firepower recently, notably putting five past Willem II and Fortuna Sittard, despite a recent 2-2 stalemate against Excelsior.

NEC Nijmegen arrive facing a difficult spell, having endured a challenging sequence of results across both domestic and European competition. With key defensive presence Deveron Fonville sidelined, the visitors will look to experienced figures like Dusan Tadic and Tjaronn Chery to stabilize their performance. Given their recent history, including a 1-1 draw in February 2026, this encounter serves as a critical test for both sides to find consistency.
