Avellino - Sampdoria
Avellino and Sampdoria look to find consistency at Stadio Partenio-Adriano Lombardi
Can Avellino re-establish their defensive discipline when they host Sampdoria on 9 October 2026 for this Serie B matchday 6 encounter? The hosts are expected to field a backline featuring Armando Izzo and Michael Venturi, hoping to contain a Sampdoria attack led by Lorenzo Insigne and Tobias Lauritsen. With Lorenco Simic sidelined through injury, Avellino must find a way to tighten up after a recent 3-1 defeat to Ascoli Calcio 1898 FC. The tactical battle in midfield promises to be intense, as Luca Di Maggio and Martin Palumbo look to disrupt the rhythm of Salvatore Esposito and Liam Henderson.
Sampdoria arrive at Stadio Partenio-Adriano Lombardi aiming to build on their narrow 2-1 victory over Catanzaro, which snapped a difficult run of results. Missing the injured Mattia Viti and Danel Sinani, the visitors will rely on the creativity of Yari Verschaeren to break down the home side. Previous meetings between these two sides have been closely contested, including a 2-1 win for each side earlier this year. Both teams are desperate to climb the table, making this a pivotal early-season fixture for their respective campaigns.
