Excelsior - Go Ahead Eagles

Can Excelsior find defensive stability when they host Go Ahead Eagles at Stadion Woudestein on 7 November 2026 for matchday 12 of the Eredivisie? The hosts are expected to field a midfield-heavy setup featuring Irakli Yegoian, Simon Janssen, and Aymen Sliti, tasked with shielding a backline of Kasey Bos, Jan Plug, Casper Widell, and Rick Meissen. Go Ahead Eagles arrive with an attacking intent, likely relying on the movement of Victor Edvardsen and Soeren Tengstedt to exploit space behind the home side's defensive unit.

Excelsior enter the contest following a difficult run, most recently suffering a heavy defeat against FC Twente. Conversely, the visitors have experienced mixed fortunes, including a recent league loss to Cambuur despite a strong cup performance. With both sides looking to correct their trajectory, the tactical battle between the expected midfield density of the hosts and the forward-pressing approach of the visitors will be decisive.
