Genk - Standard Liege

Can Genk maintain their recent momentum as they host Standard Liege at Cegeka Arena on 25 October 2026 for matchday 9 of the Belgian Pro League? The hosts enter this contest following a solid 3-0 league victory over Kortrijk and a cup win against Virton. The expected XI for Genk features Rafiu Durosinmi leading the line, supported by a midfield unit including Junya Ito and Bryan Heynen. Their defensive structure, anchored by Joris Kayembe Ditu and Josue Kongolo, will look to stifle an visiting attack tasked with finding consistency after a mixed run of results.

Standard Liege arrive looking to bounce back from a narrow league defeat to Sporting Charleroi, despite a recent cup success against FCV Dender EH. The visitors are expected to field an attacking trio of Adnane Abid, Dennis Eckert, and Bernard Nguene. With the sides having drawn their last two competitive meetings, the tactical battle between Genk's organized midfield and Standard's mobile front line will likely define this encounter.
