Hajduk Split - Ajax

Can Hajduk Split maintain their domestic momentum when they host Ajax at Stadion Poljud on 15 October 2026 for this Conference League matchday 1 encounter? The home side enters the fixture following a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Dinamo Zagreb, demonstrating a resilience that has defined their recent run. Hajduk Split relies on a balanced approach that has seen them navigate high-pressure qualification ties, including a dramatic extra-time win against Rakow Czestochowa. They will look to leverage their current confidence to disrupt the visitors' rhythm early in this opening group stage clash.

Ajax arrives in Croatia aiming to regain consistency after a frustrating 1-1 draw against NEC Nijmegen. Their recent form has been defined by high-scoring affairs, highlighted by a convincing 5-1 win over Willem II, though defensive lapses against PSV Eindhoven suggest vulnerabilities that the hosts may look to exploit. As both sides seek a strong start, the tactical battle will likely hinge on whether Ajax can control the tempo or if Hajduk Split can force the game into a physical contest.
