NEC Nijmegen - Fortuna Sittard

NEC Nijmegen enter this matchday 9 fixture on 18 October 2026 looking to find consistency after a challenging run across both domestic and European competitions. Their recent Eredivisie form has been defined by a series of draws, including a hard-fought point against Ajax, though they remain eager to convert these stalemates into victories. Defensively, the hosts will have to navigate this encounter without Bram Nuytinck, who remains sidelined through injury. The expected XI, featuring Dusan Tadic and Tjaronn Chery in midfield, will aim to provide the necessary creativity to break down a resilient visiting side.

Fortuna Sittard arrive at Stadion De Goffert following a productive spell that saw them secure narrow wins against Willem II and ADO Den Haag. Their most recent outing resulted in a draw with FC Twente, maintaining their competitive momentum in the league. History suggests a high-scoring affair, as their last meeting on 28 February 2026 ended in a 3-2 victory for the visitors. With both teams seeking to establish dominance, the tactical battle between the expected lineups will likely determine which side can dictate the tempo of this Eredivisie clash.
