OFI Crete - Bayer Leverkusen

Can OFI Crete withstand the attacking fluidity of Bayer Leverkusen when the two sides meet on 22 October 2026 at Pankritio Stadium? The hosts face a stern test in this Europa League matchday 3 fixture, needing to shore up a defensive unit that has struggled recently, most notably in a 4-3 defeat to Kalamata. The expected XI for the home side relies on the attacking trio of Thiago Nuss, Kenan Kodro, and Giannis Theodosoulakis to provide a spark, though they must contend with the absence of injured duo Nikos Christogeorgos and Taxiarchis Fountas.

Bayer Leverkusen arrive in high spirits, buoyed by a convincing 4-0 win over Lech Poznan in their previous European outing. With Patrik Schick leading the line and a midfield anchored by Aleix Garcia and Equi Fernandez, the visitors have demonstrated a clinical edge in recent weeks. While OFI Crete previously tasted success in Europe with a win against Hoffenheim, they will need to find that defensive discipline again to contain a Leverkusen side currently operating with significant momentum.
