Portugal vs Spain - World Cup 2026 Betting Tips (06/07/2026)

Betting Tip:

Match to be a draw @ 3.50 - bet365

Both Spain and Portugal have been a little underwhelming this tournament and this clash could be a tight and cagey affair. Both teams have quality but both have also found it hard to really hit top gear. Add the jeopardy of the knockout stage and it feels like a draw is the best bet in the outright result market.

Portugal have stuttered their way to this stage of World Cup 2026 and needed a late goal to see off Croatia in the previous round. Spain have been slightly better but have still struggled to find their usual fluent attacking play. Spain are the 1.90 favourites with bet365 to come out on top. Portugal can be backed at 4.00 with the draw priced at 3.50.

We expect a close encounter in this one against two teams that know each other well. Portugal have some explosive attacking talent and brilliant midfield technicians and how they handle Spain's play will be key. There is every chance to believe these two sides could cancel each other out for long periods and backing the draw looks the way to go.

Reasons to Follow this Bet

  • In the last 12 matches played since 1985, five (42%) have ended in draws. Portugal (3) and Spain (4) are the other results.

  • Four of the last five meetings have ended in a draw, including when they met most recently in the Nations League in 2025.

  • Both teams have found it hard to find momentum this tournament and both drew their opening World Cup fixtures.

Portugal vs Spain - Team News

Portugal don't have any injury issues that will impact them too much. They handed Rafael Leão a start on the left in place of Joao Felix in the previous knockout game and he should continue there for this one, with Pedro Neto keeping his place on the right flank.

Spain have a settled side at the moment and no major injury issues. Nico Williams is nearing full fitness after a hip issue but it looks like they will continue to use Alex Baena from the left.

Portugal vs Spain Line-ups
