England Third Favourites for Nations League Glory

England are third favourites to lift the Nations League trophy after a host of all-action displays across the recent international break. Manager Thomas Tuchel took the handbreak off as the Three Lions produced attacking intent to dispel the worry of a World Cup hangover.

Wins over the Czech Republic, a thrashing of Croatia, and a very narrow defeat to Spain has given them a real chance to secure Nations League glory, which is now reflected in the outright winner betting odds.

Can England Win the Nations League?

The simple answer is yes. England seem to have gone up a level since their World Cup disappointment and have shown a willingness to play a more direct, attacking style following their third-place playoff victory over France.

They may have come up short against current World Champions and Nations League favourites Spain but they did have an opportunity to go 3-1 up in that contest when Harry Kane missed from the penalty spot. Far from being disheartened with the eventual 3-2 loss, that showing seemed to act as a catalyst for them to double down on a new attacking approach.

A devilish high press, intent to play between the lines, and attacking as quickly as possible with pace and purpose have been a feature of the first four Nations League fixtures that have ended with England having one foot in the quater-finals. It is a style that suits the players at Tuchel's disposal and one that the squad looks at ease with. This intent and attitude is the main reason that they can be considered to have a real chance in this tournament and why there may still be some value in their 5.50 price with bet365 and other top betting sites.

More Options for Tuchel as New Players Shine

One of the biggest positives to come from England's recent Nations League fixtures is the emergence of a new options for Thomas Tuchel, the return of other key individuals to an established core group.

While Harry Kane, Jude Bellingham, Anthony Gordon and Bukayo Saka remain the main attacking options, there have been others that have taken the chance to shine. Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott showed his potential to be a regular in future squads after his eye-catching showing against Croatia. He hands England another central midfield option to Declan Rice and Elliott Anderson.

Trent Alexander-Arnold, who missed out on World Cup selection, showed his quality in attacking areas in two games against the Czech Republic, while goalkeeper James Trafford put in an accomplished display in the first two games to hand Jordan Pickford some much-needed competition. The injury absence of left-back Nico O'Reilly gave Newcastle's Lewis Hall the chance to stake his own claim. He linked up well with former Premier League team-mate Anthony Gordon and looks set to become another regular in future squads.

Spain Still the Team to Beat

World Champions Spain have already qualified for the Nations League quarter-finals after winning their first four games, including a hard-fought success over England at Wembley. It is clear they still set the standard that the likes of England, second-favourites France, and Portugal and Germany need to reach.

Spain are 3.00 favourites with bet365 and continue to play at the level that saw them secure another World Cup title. They handed coach Luis de la Fuente's a new contract until 2032 following success in Mexico, USA and Canada in the summer.

Germany and Portugal are looking to build under new managers but this Nations League could have come a little too soon for them. France have started life under Zinedine Zidane with three wins and a draw and look worth contenders this time around.
