Premier League Top Goalscorer Preview - Rating the Favourites

Let us talk you through the main contenders for this season's Premier League golden boot and the positives and negatives for each selection to help guide your betting choices. The best betting sites have odds available for this market and will update prices as the goals begin to fly in.

Erling Haaland - 1.66 Fav with bet365

Haaland is rightly the favourite to bag a fourth top goalscorer award in 26/27 and his record in the Premier League speaks for itself. He has landed this title three times in the last four seasons, with only Mo Salah denying him in 24/25. He won it again last season with 27 goals despite Man City failing to win the title.

There are a few factors to consider that may give others hope this time around. Man City are starting the post-Pep Guardiola era under the guidence of former assistant Enzo Maresca. The Italian failed in his first big job at Chelsea but does have a similar tactical style to Guardiola, which could make the transition slightly easier. However, if it takes time for City to gel under his leadership then Haaland could see his goals dry up. A 3-0 Charity Shield loss to Arsenal on the eve of the new campaign will add to those concerns.

Alexander Isak - 9.00

Isak hasn't really been able to fire since his big-money move to Liverpool from Newcastle United, much of that down to a host of injury issues that included a serious ankle injury against Tottenham. Staying fit could be the biggest hinderence to the Sweden striker's chances, as well as how Liverpool progress under new manager Andoni Iraola.

There is no doubt he has the talent to be near the top of the goalscorer charts this season but he needs to prove he can stay fit for the whole campaign and that injury hasn't left a lasting mark.

Igor Thiago - 13.00

Igor Thiago was a revelation at Brentford last season after his move from Club Brugge started to bear fruit. He had to be patient after a knee injury curtailed his first season with the Bees but soon came to life from the very start of the 25/26 season.

He scored 22 times in 28 Premier League appearences as he led Brentford's attack under Keith Andrews. His form also saw him make the Brazil squad at the expense of Chelsea's Joao Pedro. How those two do in the Premier League golden boot standings could also have an impact on the chances they get with the national team.

The psoitive for Thiago is that he is likely to be a regular starter for Brentford but may not get as many chances as some of his golden boot rivals given he players for a weaker team.

Joao Pedro - 14.00

The Chelsea and Brazil striker scored 15 goals last season and looks to have a key role to play under new boss Xabi Alonso. The fact he can play behind a central striker or from the left if not leading the line himself means he should feature even when game scenarios change late on.

His best performances last season came from playing centrally and that looks to be where he'll be prefered again. He missed out on seelction for the World Cup but maybe has a point to prove after that disappointment. Expct Chelsea to have a stong season, which could see him out-perfrom his odds.

Viktor Gyokeres - 21.00

Gyokeres netted 14 Premier League goals last term as Arsenal secured a long-awaited title. If they are to chllenge for back-to-back league wins then they will need him to find form again.

He was guilty of missing too many opportunities and being wasteful in front of goals at times last season and he will need to improve that to put pressure on Haaland. He also faces a fight for a starting role now that Kai Havertz is back to full fitness for the Gunners.

Joao Pedro to be Premier League Top Goalscorer - Each-way at 14/1 with bet365

Chelsea and Brazil striker Joao Pedro looks a good bet in this market and is also an each-way price meaning a return if he comes in the top four top scorers this season.

Chelsea could be set for a much-improved campaign under new boss Xabi Alonso and Joao Pedro will be key to that. He could get a lot more chances in front of goal this season thanks to the supply of Cole Palmer, new signing Morgan Rogers, and winger Pedro Neto.

Joao Pedro enjoyed a good end to the previous season and has a point to prove after missing out on selection to Brazil's World Cup squad.

Joao Pedro's price for this market has now been boosted to 18/1 by bet365 ahead of the new season. Click on the link below to sign up and head to the top goalscorer market
